Bio: Ferdinand is a gentle giant of Misty Island, where he works with twin engines Bash and Dash. Instead of burning coal, Ferdinand runs on wood and oil. He is bigger and slower than Bash and Dash, but will always endeavour to join in all the same. He may come across as the simpler-minded, quieter, or even more bashful engine of the three due to his tendency to often let the more boisterous Bash and Dash do most of the talking, but often manages to get in a comment of “That’s right!” during the trio’s antics. Nevertheless, he is just as fun loving, goofy, and whacky as the other two. He is considerate, inquisitive, has a big heart, and enjoys joining in and laughing along wherever there are fun and games to be had.
Since his purchase from the long abandoned Misty Island Logging Railroad, Ferdinand has found his new lease on life with work on the Mid-American Railroad. He thoroughly enjoys himself as he steams through the immense forests where the lumber company thrives stupendously. He enjoys hauling freight cars loaded with logs to the main shunting yards before returning back to the logging camps to collect more fallen tree trunks for delivery. He is known for his wisdom regarding logging and his sense of humour while he laughs with the lumberjacks’ smart remarks about logging work. He also works hard to keep the yard at the lumber camp neat and orderly to make his trips, as well as the lumberjacks’ work, much easier to save time and fuel.
He has since matured from his fun loving, goofy, and whacky ways while he still does retain the playfulness and enthusiasm of a young engine while he works hard. He is also employed for shunting in the yards whenever needed, running the local freight from time to time, and is sometimes given permission to work special passenger excursions to the lumber camps; he is particularly fond of these excursions, as he is allowed to show them passengers some sights that they cannot see all of the time. It must be noted that he loves showing passengers, engines, and rolling stock the natural beauty of the forested woodlands he works.
He is happy to have plenty of work to keep him busy, but is also happy to find that he is able to do the same work he once did on the Misty Island Logging Railroad. He also enjoys being able to talk with the other engines on the Mid-American Railroad about work they are assigned to on a daily, or occasionally weekly, basis. He continues to enjoy laughs, fun and games wherever and whenever possible while he works hard to keep timetables met, deliveries made, and yards organized. He has shown a nearly unquenchable thirst for knowledge on working all sorts of trains on the Mid-American, and absolutely loves the idea of teaching another engine how to work out in the logging camps; he has proven himself to be a very capable teacher, and very much a fun, entertaining one at that. Although he does admit that he misses some things about Misty Island, he is far happier to be on the Mid-American Railroad and doing the sort of work he was built for— logging.
Meet Ferdinand, the Class C Climax Logging Locomotive. Although questionable for my purchase, Ferdinand has matured from his fun-loving ways upon his arrival to the Mid-American Railroad when he discovered that I would let him return to his hard work of logging. Friendly, sociable, but occasionally slow to catch onto some things, Ferdinand has proven himself to be a hard worker, a great friend, and an intelligent locomotive. Keep an eye out for Ferdinand!
